The acetylation of cedrene in the presence of titanium tetrachloride

Abstract

The acetylation of α-cedrene with acetic anhydride in the presence of titanium tetrachloride affords two new products in addition to acetylcedrene. These materials have been characterised as a hydroxyketone having a tricyclo[5.2.2.01,5]undecane skeleton and a vinyl ether derived from it.
