The microstructure, molecular constituents, and stability of the graphite–antimony pentachloride intercalate
Abstract
Reaction of SbCl5 with graphite at room temperature results in the formation of a dilute first-stage intercalate consisting of several species, including SbCl3, Sbcl52–, SbCl6– and SbCl63–; the occurrence of an unusual low-temperature phase transition is also discussed.
