Ring-opening reaction of 3,3-dimethylcyclopropene promoted by a dimolybdenum complex

Abstract

The reaction of dicyclopentadienyltetracarbonyldimolybdenum with 3,3-dimethylcyclopropene leads to a ring-opening reaction and the formation of an unusual allyl-bridged dimolybdenum complex, identified by X-ray crystallography.
