Structural and isotope tracer study of the proton induced reduction of CO in [Fe4(CO)11(µ-CO)(µ3-COMe)]; X-ray crystal structure of [Fe4H(CO)12COMe]

Abstract

Mild protonation of [Fe4(CO)11(µ-CO)(µ3-COMe)] yields [Fe4H(CO)12(η2-COMe)]; this reacts further with strong acid to give CH4, which originates from the η2-COMe+ ligand.
