Radical chain bromination of hydrocarbons using bis(trimethylsilyl)bromamine

Abstract

Bis(trimethylsilyl)bromamine, (Me3Si)2NBr, reacts with hydrocarbons to bring about bromination by a free radical chain mechanism in which the radical (Me3Si)2N· is responsible for hydrogen abstraction.
