Dinuclear dihydrido complexes of iridium(II) of the type [Ir(H)(µ-SBut)(CO)(PR3)]2 with single metal–metal bonds

Abstract

[Ir(µ-SBut)(CO)(PR3)]2(I, R = Me, Ph, NMe2, or OMe) reacts irreversibly with molecular hydrogen to give compounds of the type [Ir(H)(µ-SBut)(CO)(PR3)]2(II); 31P and 1H n.m.r. experiments indicate the formation of metal–metal single bonds in these adducts.
