Dinuclear dihydrido complexes of iridium(II) of the type [Ir(H)(µ-SBut)(CO)(PR3)]2 with single metal–metal bonds

Abstract

[Ir(µ-SBu^t)(CO)(PR₃)]₂(I, R = Me, Ph, NMe₂, or OMe) reacts irreversibly with molecular hydrogen to give compounds of the type [Ir(H)(µ-SBu^t)(CO)(PR₃)]₂(II); ³¹P and ¹H n.m.r. experiments indicate the formation of metal–metal single bonds in these adducts.
