Ionization potentials, electron affinities and screening constants. Part 8.—Further developments

Abstract

This paper shows a new empirical relationship for electron affinities and refines earlier hypotheses for the variation of electric field during ionization. For two-electron (helium-like) systems these refinements justify this empirical relationship and improve calculation of ionization energy and of diamagnetic susceptibility. For polyelectronic systems previous relationships are discussed and their interpretation altered.
