Metal-catalysed hydration of 2-pyridyloxiran

Abstract

In the presence of CuII the hydration of 2-pyridyloxiran is accelerated 18,000-fold, and its reaction with Cl, Br, and MeO becomes 100% regiospecific for β-attack.
