Differences between homogeneous and heterogeneous metal catalysis. Isotope orientation in the platinum-catalysed exchange of the polyphenyls, particularly o-terphenyl
Abstract
o-Terphenyl is a good marker compound for distinguishing between homogeneous and heterogeneous metal-catalysed reaction, particularly isotope exchange; difference in deuterium orientation are observed during initial rates of exchange in o-terphenyl with each catalytic system, these differences being attributed to a particular conformation of o-terphenyl in the adsorbed state.
