An anomaly in the reactivity patterns of the octachlorodirhenate(III) anion. The chemistry and crystal structure of the µ-dichloro-rhenium(III) complex of 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, Re2Cl6(dppe)2·2MeCN

Abstract

The complexes [ReCl3(dppe)]n and [ReCl2.5-(dppe)]n, formed from the reaction of the salt [Bu4N]2-Re2Cl8 with 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe), are not structurally related to analogous 2,5-dithia-hexane complexes, a conclusion which has been confirmed by a single crystal X-ray structure analysis on the acetonitrile solvate [ReCl3(dppe)·MeCN]n.
