Spectroscopic evidence for a silicon–carbon double-bond

Abstract

Low-temperature trapping of the gas-phase pyrolysis products from 1,1-dimethyl-1-silacyclobutane allows the i.r. observation of an unstable species which we suggest is Me2Si[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2.
