Isomerism in arylsulphonylamidines

Abstract

Previous reports claiming the isolation of tautomers and geometrical isomers of arylsulphonylamidines have been shown to be incorrect. Chemical and spectroscopic evidence, in particular that from the 1H n.m.r. spectrum of N-(3-chlorophenylsulphonyl)[N′-15N]acetamidine has shown this compound to exist predominantly in the amino-form.
