Reactivity of complexes containing group IIB metal–manganese bonds

Abstract

The reactions of the series of complexes M[Mn(CO)5]2(M = Zn, Cd, or Hg) with Group IIB metal halides, Lewis bases, halogens, hydrogen halides, and organic halides have been studied. Several new Lewis-base adducts with nitrogen donor ligands have been isolated and characterised for both M = Zn and Cd. The relatively stable oxygen donor adduct, Cd[Mn(CO)5]2, (diglyme) is also described (diglyme =[MeO·CH2·CH2]2O).
