The polymetic thionitrosyl metals formulated previously as M(N4S4)(M = Fe or Co), have been reinvestigated and new iron and cobalt carbonyl thionitrosyl complexes, Fe(CO)N4S4 and Co2(CO)N4S4 containing some of the highest ν(C–O) frequencies observed in transition metal carbonyls have been prepared.
