Biosynthesis of isoprene derivatives: origin of the furan ring in the quinoline alkaloid dictamnine

Abstract

The hydroxyisopropyldihydrofuranoquinoline alkaloid, platydesmine, has been shown to be an efficient precursor of the furanoquinoline alkaloid, dictamnine, in Skimmia japonica Thunb.
