Application of Shereshefsky's equation for the determination of solid surface dispersion energy

Abstract

A simple method for obtaining solid surface dispersion energies by measuring adsorption from solution and applying Shereshefsky's equation has been tested with experimental data from the literature on the adsorption of stearic acid from C6H6 solution on to mercury, iron, copper, and nickel giving results that compare favourably with those obtained by contact angle or by vapour phase adsorption measurements.
