Spectrum of SF

Abstract

In the 4000–3300 Å region about 40 absorption bands believed to be due to SF radical were measured. Extensive predissociation indicates that an upper limit to the dissociation energy of the ground state is about 3.3 eV. The structure of two vibronic bands has been analyzed : they arise from transitions between 2Π[fraction three-over-two] components of 2Πi states. Rotational and vibrational constants and doublet splitting were determined for the upper state 2Πi.
