Two syntheses of dibenzo[b,h]biphenylene

Abstract

A one-step preparation of dibenzo[b,h]biphenylene via naphthalyne is described, as well as a multi-step synthesis via biphenylene. Both routes yield about 2% of the hydrocarbon from commercially available materials.
