Cinnolines. Part XIV. Reductive Formylation of Cinnolines to 1-Formamidoindoles

Abstract

The reductive formylation of cinnolines by heating with formic acid and formamide gives the corresponding 1-formamidoindole; cinnoline-4-carboxylic acid is decarboxylated during the reaction.
