The alkaloids of Gelsemium sempervirens. Part III. Sempervirine

Abstract

In a synthetic approach to the alkaloid, attempts to link the pyridine nitrogen atom of 2-(2′-pyridyl)indole (III) by a two-carbon chain to C-3 of the indole ring led to attack on the 1-position unless this was blocked.
