Kinetics of aquation and of peroxodisulphate oxidation in aqueous acetonitrile

Abstract

Rate constants are reported for several aquation and oxidation reactions in a series of acetonitrile–water mixtures. The aquations include those of substituted tris-(1,10-phenanthroline)iron(II) and of cis- and trans-dichlorobisethylenediaminecobalt(III); the oxidations of substituted tris-(1,10-phenanthroline)iron(II), of iodide, and of hexacyanoferrate(II) by peroxodisulphate.
