The molecular spectra of quasi-aromatic heterocyclic compounds. Part I. The thiuret cation

Abstract

The i.r., Raman, and u.v. spectra of the thiuret and deuteriated thiuret cations have been measured. The Raman spectra were obtained with both 4358 Å and gas-laser (6328 Å) excitation. An assignment of the vibrational spectra is proposed based on a planar cation having C2v symmetry. Participation of the nonbonded p-electrons on the sulphur atoms, in the conjugated ring system, is indicated by the presence of u.v. absorption at 2800 Å.
