Reactions between phosphorus pentafluoride and methylamine, ethylamine, and t-butylamine

Abstract

The reactions between phosphorus pentafluoride and monoalkylamines are complex and yield adducts, alkylammonium hexafluorophosphates, alkylaminotetrafluorophosphoranes, and bis(alkylamino)trifluorophosphoranes under the appropriate conditions. A possible sequence of reactions is discussed.
