Abstract
Anodic oxidation of 3,4,3′,4′-tetramethoxybibenzyl or 2,3,6,7-tetramethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene in acetonitrile results in dehydrogenation with the formation of the corresponding phenanthrene.
