Isolation and structure of new meta-bridged biphenyls from Myrica nagi

Abstract

Isolation and structure of two natural m-bridged biphenyls (II) and (III) is reported; the biphenyl (III), tensed by the bridge into approximate planarity, rearranges to the twisted (VII) on treatment with Lewis acids.
