Addition of bis(trimethylsilyl)mercury to fluoro-olefins: isolation of intermediate 1 : 1-adducts

Abstract

Under u.v. irradiation, bis(trimethylsilyl)mercury displaces halogen from fluoro-olefins (C2F4, C3F6, cyclo-C4F8, CF2 : CFCl, CF2 : CF·SiMe3, CF3·CF : CF·SiMe3, [graphic omitted]·SiMe3) to give fluorovinyltrimethylsilanes of type Me3Si·[graphic omitted]F and Me3Si·[graphic omitted]·SiMe3; intermediate 1 : 1-adducts of olefins and mercurial of type Me3Si·[graphic omitted]·Hg·SiMe3 have been isolated from some reactions.
