Quenching of fluorenone triplet by amines

Abstract

Aniline, diphenylamine, and diazabicyclo-octane effectively retard photoreduction of fluorenone by triethylamine, by quenching the triplet of fluorenone; the efficiency of quenching by anilines is increased by electron-donating and decreased by electron-withdrawing para-substituents.
