Measurements of heats of combustion by flame calorimetry. Part 5.—Dimethoxymethane, 1,1-dimethoxyethane

Abstract

The heats of combustion of dimethoxymethane and 1,1-dimethoxyethane have been measured in the gaseous state at 25°C and 1 atm pressure in a flame calorimeter: ΔH°c(dimethoxymethane, g)=–1 975.68 ± 0.76 kJ mol–1, ΔH°c(1,1-dimethoxyethane, g)=–2 613.47 ± 0.78 kJ mol–1. The heats of formation have been discussed in terms of the Allen bond-energy scheme.
