West African timbers. Part XXV. Diterpenoids of Gossweilerodendron balsamiferum harms

Abstract

The wood of Gossweilerodendron balsamiferum Harms has afforded five diterpenes. These are (–)-hardwickiic acid together with the new diterpenes, agbaninol, agbanindiols A and B, and the monomethyl ester of the known kolavic acid. On the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidence structures have been proposed for the new compounds.
