Partial fluorination of tetrahydrofuran with cobalt trifluoride
Abstract
Tetrahydrofuran reacts with cobalt trifluoride to give a mixture (over 30 components) of partially fluorinated oxolans, propanes, and acid fluorides (Table 1), most of which have been identified, mainly by n.m.r. spectroscopy. Possible fluorination pathways are discussed.
