Magnetic double resonance studies of pentafluorophenyl derivatives

Abstract

Homo- and hetero-nuclear double resonance experiments are used to facilitate the complete analysis of the n.m.r. spectra of C6F5Z (Z = CHO, CH3, and CF3). An accurate relation is presented between the 19F and 1H resonant frequencies in C6F6 and tetramethylsilane respectively. A novel decoupling method is described for the measurement of very small coupling constants, and is applied to C6F5·CH3.
