A study of the Mannich reaction. Part IX. Reaction of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene with methylenebispiperidine

Abstract

Relative reaction rates are presented as evidence for a transition state involving the aci-form in the reaction of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene with methylenebispiperidine. The reaction of 2,4-dinitrotoluene was also studied. 2,6-Dinitrotoluene, 3,4,5-trinitrotoluene, and tris-(p-nitrophenyl)methane did not react with methylebispiperidine.
