Reaction of Feaq2+ and FeClaq+ with hydrogen peroxide in perchlorate media at 25°

Abstract

Differing values for the bimolecular rate constant k0′ for the reaction of the hexa-aquoiron(II) ion with hydrogen peroxide in perchlorate media at 25° are discussed in relation to experimental conditions. The optimum conditions for an accurate value of k0′ are defined and a method of calculation of k0′ is examined. The suitability of various methods for the calculation of β1 for FeClaq+ from competitive kinetics are compared: results with and without organic inhibitor present are contrasted.
