Raman spectra of crystalline complexes of indium(III) chloride with 2,2′-bipyridyl, 1,10-phenanthroline, pyridine, and pyrazine

Abstract

The Raman spectra of the crystalline complexes InCl3 bipy1·5, InCl3 phen1·5, MeCN, [Ph4As][InCl4 bipy], MeCN, InCl3 py3, [Ph4As][InCl4 py2], and MCl3(pyrazine)1·5(M = In or Tl) have been measured and are compared with earlier i.r. spectral data. The new complexes cis-[InCl2 bipy2] PF6,H2O, cis-[InCl2 bipy2] ClO4, and cis-[InCl2 phen2] ClO4 have also been prepared and their i.r. (4000–200 cm.–1) and Raman spectra recorded. The complexes of empirical formula InCl3B1·5, (B = 2,2′-bipyridyl and 1,10-phenanthroline) are believed to have the ionic structure [InCl2B2]+[InCl4B], and InCl3 py3, prepared in ethanol or methyl cyanide, is cis-octahedral.
