Structure of Grignard compound derived from mesityl methyl ketone

Abstract

The bromo Grignard compound derived from mesityl methyl ketone is not the presently accepted enolate (I); on the basis of cryoscopic, i.r., and 1H n.m.r. studies the dimeric structure (III) is indicated.
