Addition reactions of heterocyclic compounds. Part XXXVII. Dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate with some substituted pyridines

Abstract

The basicities of pyridines appear related to their reactivity towards acetylenic esters. The products from 4-cyano- and 2-methoxy-pyridine, and methyl 2-pyridylacetates with dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates have been identified from their spectra and reactions.
