Photochemical formation of benzoxazoline derivatives from aminated quinones

Abstract

Photoisomerisation of diaminated derivatives of 2,5-dimethyl-1,4-benzoquinone (p-xyloquinone) gives rise to benzoxazolines. The scope of this reaction, which affords new neterocyclic ring systems, is investigated.
