Spectroscopic studies on organometallic compounds. Part XIV. Infrared spectra of tricarbonylmolybdenum complexes in the carbonyl stretching region

Abstract

An analysis has been made of the carbonyl stretching frequencies of complexes of formula cis-X2YM(CO)3(M = Cr, Mo, and W; X2 is 2,2′-dipyridyl or o-phenanthroline, and Y is a monodentate Lewis base). Force constants have been calculated for these complexes using a method described previously and their significance is discussed. Recent results for the complexes cis-L2BrMn(CO)3 where L is a phosphine or amine are also considered.
