The liquid hydrogen chloride solvent system. Part X. Acidic properties of some boron compounds

Abstract

The acidic properties of a number of boron compounds in liquid hydrogen chloride have been studied to assess their relative Lewis acid strengths in the solvent. The ion B2Cl62– was formed quantitatively and there is evidence for the formation of the MeBCl3 ion.
