Diffusion of mannitol and thiourea at trace concentrations in aqueous solutions at 25°

Abstract

Intradiffusion coefficients have been measured for labelled mannitol in aqueous mannitol solutions to 0.7782 M and for labelled thiourea in thiourea solutions to 1.379 M. Use of mutual diffusion and activity coefficient data for the mannitol system has allowed calculation of isotopic friction coeficients Rik for this system. For three of the four non-electrolyte molecules for which data are now available, the limiting Rik values appear to be a linear function of the apparent molar volume.
