Dipole moments of some cholesteryl compounds

Abstract

The dipole moments of eight derivatives of cholesterol (formate, acetate, propionate, n-butyrate, n-valerate, benzoate, chloride and bromide) have been determined at room temperature in two non-polar solvents, carbon tetrachloride and benzene. The values show an alternate increase and decrease with the increase in the length of ester alkyl chain for the fatty esters.
