Studies on the steroidal components of domestic plants. Part LIII. Structure of diotigenin

Abstract

Diotigenin (Ia), isolated from Dioscorea tenuipes complex is deduced to be a 2,3,4-trihydroxy-5β,25L-sapogenin from chemical degradation and physical data. The hydroxy-groups are assumed to have 2β-, 3α-, and 4β-configurations from n.m.r. spectra.
