Total syntheses of (±)-glaziovine and (±)-pronuciferine by phenolic oxidative coupling

Abstract

Phenolic oxidative coupling of (±)-N-methylcoclaurine with potassium ferricyanide afforded (±)-glaziovine (III), whose methylation with diazomethane gave (±)-pronuciferine (VI). A very interesting dimeric compound (VIII) was also obtained.
