Applications of proton resonance spectroscopy to structural problems. Part XXVII. Phenanthrene chemistry. Part V. Configuration and conformation of some 9,9′,10,10′-tetrahydro-9,9′-biphenanthryls

Abstract

Chemical shifts and spin–spin coupling constants of some 9,9′,10,10′-tetrahydro-9,9′-biphenanthryls indicate that they belong to the 9,9′-racemic series, that the 9,9′-link is formed from pseudo-axial bonds, and that the 10- and 10′-substituents occupy pseudo-axial positions.
