Tetrakis-(n-butylthiomethyl)methane forms complexes of general formula [M2X4,L](M = Pd, Pt, or Hg; X = Cl, Br, or I), in which the ligand acts as a doubly bidentate chelate. Tetrakis(phenylthiomethyl)methane forms similar complexes with palladium and platinum, but not with mercury. The complexes are non-conducting in nitrobenzene.
