The vibrational spectrum of Ga2Cl6

Abstract

The vibrational spectrum of gallium trichloride under a variety of conditions is reported. Gas-phase infrared data and solid-state Raman data are included. The vibrational frequencies are assigned with the aid of a normal coordinate analysis, utilising a GVFF force constant for the bridge bonds which is less than one-half of that assumed for the terminal bonds.
