The infrared spectra of hexahalogenometallates(IV)

Abstract

The infrared spectra of some hexafluorometallates(IV), hexachlorometallates(IV), and hexabromometallates(IV) have been recorded over the range 4000–250 cm–1. The splittings of the observed peaks are correlated with the site symmetries of sites occupied by the anions. There is a marked correlation between the observed frequencies and the counter-cation.
