Methyl derivatives of trithiocyanuric acid

Abstract

The methylation of trithiocyanuric acid with diazomethane has been shown to yield a mixture of the symmetric S- and N-trimethyl compounds (II) and (III) with the SNN-trimethyl compound (IV). Compounds (II) and (III) remain unchanged upon heating up to 260°, whereas (IV) isomerises to a mixture of (II) and (III). The proton magnetic resonance and infrared absorption spectra of the compounds are reported.
