A computer programme to aid in the determination of molecular formulæ

Abstract

The basis is presented for a computer programme which derives all possible molecular formulæ associated with a given set of elemental analyses, group analyses, and molecular weight data, and evaluates the analytical fit of each formula. This treatment has advantages over published methods when applied to compounds whose molecular weights lie between about 500 and 900. A comprehensive programme of this type is formulated.
