Synthesis of 1,3,5,7,9-oxatetrathiacyclodecane and of 1,3,5,7,9,11-oxapentathiacyclododecane

Abstract

The reaction between bischloromethyl ether and sodium sulphide gives linear formaldehyde–thioformaldehyde copolymers, with CH2S/CH2O ratios ranging from 1 to 4, and the two new cyclic co-oligomers, 1,3,5,7,9-oxatetrathiacyclodecane and 1,3,5,7,9,11-oxapentathiacyclododecane.
